enzymatic activities and secondary metabolite contents in roots of melon genotypes infected with fusariumoxysporum f. sp. melonisrace 1

چکیده
melon (cucumismelo) production is significantly affected by fusarium wilt worldwide. the pathogen, fusariumoxysporum f. sp. melonis race 1 (fom1) causes serious economic losses in iran. to find resistance sources of melon, 45 local genotypes and breeding lines, collected from different parts of iran, were screened against race 1 of fom. seedlings were inoculated with a suspension of 1×106 conidia/ml at first true leaf stage. the severity of the disease was assessed on leaves using a rating scale from 0 to 4. analysis of variance demonstrated highly significant differences between the genotypes. five susceptible and five resistant genotypes were inoculated with the causal agent and root samples were taken for 8 days. the activity of polyphenoloxidase (ppo)enzyme, phenolic compounds (pcs) and cucurbitacins content of the samples were analyzed to identifypossible relations between resistance and enzymatic activities. ppo activity and pcs content inresistantgenotypes significantincreased in response to infection by the pathogen, but there were not significant differences in susceptible genotypes. analysis of variance showed that there was a direct relation between cucurbitacins d with resistance to the disease, while there was no clear relation between the content of cucurbitacins e with disease resistance.

Secondary Metabolite Contents and Antioxidant Enzyme Activities of Cichorium intybus Hairy Roots in Response to Zinc
Hairy root systems are formed by transforming plant tissues with the “natural genetic engineer” Agrobacterium rhizogenes. In most plants such as Cichorium intybus L., hairy root cultures have proven to be an efficient system for secondary metabolites production. The effect of Zinc (ZnSO4), a heavy metal, was investigated at different concentrations (0, 1, 5 and 10 mM) on some secondary metaboli...

In the present study, models were developed to estimate the altitudinal variation in secondary metabolite contents of Hypericum orientale growing wild in “Güldağı” mountain, Turkey. Aerial parts of flowering 30 individuals were collected at six different altitudes (500, 1150, 1650, 2100, 2720 and 3250 m). Actual secondary metabolite contents of plants were measured by High Performance Liquid Ch...

Abstract In the present study, eleven compounds (1-11) including nine alkaloids (1-9), one triterpenoid saponin (10) and one formamide (11) were isolated from Talaromyces sp. LGT-2, an endophytic fungus from Tripterygium wilfordi. Their structures were determined based on NMR and ESI-MS spectral data, as well as comparing with previous literature data. This is the first report of the isolation ...
